This weekend’s hosts, Chipstead RFC, sit one place and 4 points above the Met in the League, currently occupying third spot. Chipstead have had a fascinating season: heavily beaten by Old Wimbledonians in their first game of 2025, Chipstead finished 2024 with a superb victory at league leaders Old Caterhamians. They recorded a victory against Wimbledonians when the sides met earlier in the season and put the Met through the wringer at Imber Court back in October. Surprise defeats to Cranleighans and Walcountians kept the Chipstead club off the promotion pace, and they suffered one other defeat at Whitgiftians.
As well as sitting just below Chipstead in the table, the two clubs are adjacent in most of the league stats. Chipstead have scored 4 points less than the Met at home, 5 less away but have notched up one more win and 7 try bonus points to the Met’s 3.
Having met three times in the past, Chipstead are ahead 3-0, but every clash has seen the Met get that little bit closer. With a very different looking XV, the Met will be hoping that Saturday will see a victory for the first time. Whilst some familiar old faces return to the Met ranks, debutant Conrad Lee starts at blind side flanker while Jack Wansell and Josh Cockell take their seats on the bench for the first time. Skipper Cormac Healy slots in to the No10 berth as Druce continues his recovery.
