The Met's final league fixture takes them to Motspur Park and the home of Old Blues. The Met ensured their survival last week with a comfortable win over Old Walcountians, so enter the match with a large amount of freedom from pressure. Old Blues, on the other hand, find themselves in a dogfight to avoid joining Kingston in the relegation spots. Old Blues require at least a victory and hope that either Old Cranleighans or Old Walcountians fail to record any points in their home games against Old Whitgiftians and Old Amplefordians respectively. To be certain of survival, Old Blues will require a try bonus point in addition to the win, so spectators should expect a fast free-flowing exhibition of attacking rugby, while the Met's defence will have to continue the form of its last outing.
The Met welcome scrum-half Joe Stirrup back to the line up, with Jack Scott reverting to the wing. Chris Holloway makes what ought to be his last appearance for the Met, but never say never! Although the Met have the rare luxury of four on the bench, Dylan Richards moves from back row to front row, whilst the return of Ed Gardner at lock sees Alaistair Short move to No.8.
This game will be the last in charge for the current management group of skipper Cormac Healy, coach Graham Shaw and Director of Rugby Jake Cottrell. The Met squad will be expected to give them the parting gift their great service deserves, and the end of season celebrations should go on long into the night.
